The background to Cambodia EP
A few years back me and my family visited Cambodia. The visit to the famous and impressive templates left a gigantic mark in my musical soul. I also brought a unique “ethnical” instrument back from the temples, a Tru Che. When I got back from the trip I explored the instrument which led to producing the song “Cambodia“. Importantly, Cambodia starts with the Tru Che and then explodes into a lush melodic EDM track.
I’ve done a few videos on the initial production phase of the track Cambodia in the past which you can find here.
A few weeks back I finished Cambodia and set to compile an EP album with a few other tracks that I produced lately. Tracks which would fit the release and musical vibe.
Track 2 – Backlight
Backlight is the only track with lyrics! I wanted one track with vocals on this release and Backlight was waiting for a good spot. This track also features a more regular song structure, you know – A,B,A,B,C,B – type of arrangement. It’s a melodic EDM banger.
Track 3 – Orange
Orange, is probably the oldest unreleased track on the EP. It’s definitely a trip to trance music with euphoric developing melodies and a lush breakdown. Furthermore, Orange features a quite minimal arrangement (from my perspective) with just enough instruments to get the ideas across. This is one of my favourite soft tracks, and finally gets an official release with Cambodia EP.
Track 4 – Into the fire
Into the fire was specifially written as a background track to my YouTube videos. I wanted a lush track with a steady beat as an exciting backdrop to my YouTube content. As such, it doesn’t stand out too much in the sound spectrum but is more of a smooth backdrop. Study music, or music to do nothing to. It’s up to you to decide. 😉
Track 5 – Summer Breeze
I wrote and produced Summer Breeze a few years back and I actually already released a small summer vibe video to the song. It’s a post rock, dream pop / shoegaze, newage kinda track with a lush arrangement. Not unlike the vibe of our previous, Into the Fire. Also produced for my YouTube channel.
Track 6 – Alex the kid
Alex the kids is the most recent track to the Cambodia release. It was the last track I produced for the EP. Alex is the name of my next son which will be born this summer, June 2021! Excited!
