And so the mermaid is finally finished and delivered to my sister Malin.
It was first sketched with pencil on the canvas, then painted with oil (and some mixed medium).

I just finished the design of the new Lockbee presentation folder.
All trace and "lullull" graphics were done in flash then exported as .eps into photoshop for some extra touces. The final composition was done in In-design to add the text and make a final printable .pdf with all the spot-colors etc.

"...Tonight is the night!
Something is gonna happen....Has to happen..."

Let me know if you find out from which pilot episode these lines are from. If can tell you it's a killer. =)
Ahh, damn I spoiled the whole thing.

Today is like any other day.
I get up, have breakfast, turn on all the machines and hardware in my studio. Then I sit down with a cup of tea (or coffee) and figure out which project I'm going to work on for today. Right now I'm involved in a bunch of projects which means this doesn't take many seconds to find out what today is all about.

I'm involved in upcoming Xbox360, DS and iPhone titles. Can't reveal anything more at the moment (NDA's).

Oh, and I also finalized the design and programming of the new Resolution (formerly known as Resolution Interactive) webpage, you can see the result here www.resolution.se

Other recent work include the design of a new logo for Resolution.
And also a logo and quick flyer for a coverband called VIP.

I just found some of the workfiles from this piece of art on my old laptop.
It was supposed to be the cover-picture for a game called W.A.R which was developed by my brother and his fellow friends at Lulea Technical University.
The pencil sketch was pretty rough, just a loose idea of the pose.
I wanted a mean soldier with heavy weapons (bazooka on the back).

As you might see I realized on a very late stage that his right hand was set in a too stressed (impossible) pose. It looked like his arm was coming out of his belly, so I had to remake it. I should have thought of that at the early sketch already, but that's life. =)

Did another layer of oil on this piece. Added some more depth in the darks (also some highlights just for the show). Added some rough outlines for the sword.


2008-06-10

Yesterday I remade the face, and right arm of the warrior with red hair (some kind of barbarian huh?). I also fixed the demonhead a bit since it looked like a conehead in the previous version.
The composition makes more sense now. Next session I will work some features out of the background.


2008-06-08

So it has begun. Another oilpainting in the making.
I have a rough concept which consists of a real photo mixed with a pencil sketch as reference. Though it doesn't look like much I think it will turn out good in the end. I've been trying out to mix the oils with some special "mediums" on the last few sessions and it's a great way to work, since the colors "flow" better. Next session I will try another "medium" to mix the oils with, and see how that works.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I just received the new Morningdew Media company cards today.
I'm glad they look nice. =)

Also added some photos of the old card and some other print material I made.
All print material were composed in In-design, and their graphics (vectors or whatever I might have used) are made in Flash, Photoshop & Painter.
I think flash is very underrated as a vector graphics tool for print material.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that you will run into trouble if you try to export your vectors directly from flash into .eps. Most vectors look crappy and get destroyed when exported directly from flash.

Try this instead:
1. Export as .ai (illustrator format) from flash.
2. Import the vector in illustrator, and then export as .eps
3. Now you have your nice looking .eps ready for print (in-design or whatever)

Oh, and the ogre at the bottom was my first oilpainting ever made on a canvas.

Well, this is a new painting I've been working. The thumb is a bit missplaced so it will be corrected in the next session.

The workprocess so far is as follows:
Session 1 - 2008-03-09:
Overall colorscheme and feeling.

Session 2 - 2008-04-12:
Started to fix the sky and clouds

Next session 3 will include burning the canvas (haha) and fixing the thumb. =)

Session 3 - 2008-06-01:
Fixed alot of small details on the hand. Started to work a bit on the lower area of the painting.

Ahh, at last it was done. The dragonlord upon his throne.
